- Minimum drill Requirements
A training partner, a ball, a field and some cones or small objects similar to cones.
- Recommended positions
All defenders and midfielders.
- Purpose
1v1 duels happens all the time in games, and are therefore great to practice. Get as many repetitions and as much experience possible, doing this drill.
The key points for the defender in this drill, is to quickly get close to the defender and close the space to slow them down, then pick a side (preferably attacker’s weak foot) and wait for the attacker to do the first move. And of course this drill requires a training partner and is basically the same drill from an offensive point of view: 1v1 offensive drill.
